What is micropigmentation?

Micropigmentation is a semi-permanent make-up process aimed at improving the appearance of certain areas of the body, such as eyebrows, lips and eye lines, for example.

This procedure is a popular option highly sought after by people who want to improve or change the appearance of their facial features, without having to resort to daily touch-ups and extensions.

Contrary to what many people think, micropigmentation IS NOT a tattoo! Micropigmentation is much more subtle and less invasive than a tattoo. While tattoos reach the three layers of the skin, micropigmentation only affects the most superficial layer.

During micropigmentation, what happens is: the pigment of the right color to the client's need is injected into the upper layer of the skin with the help of a fine needle, in order to create the desired effect.

How long does micropigmentation last?

The duration of micropigmentation varies according to the area where the procedure is applied, the depth of the color used and the type of skin and scarring of each person. Still, in general, the results of micropigmentation can last from a few months to several years. For example, eyebrow micropigmentation can last up to 2 years!

It is considered a safe procedure when performed by a qualified and experienced professional. However, like any procedure of its kind, micropigmentation is not risk-free. This aesthetic intervention can cause infections, allergic reactions, changes in pigment color and scarring. Therefore, it is essential that you choose a trusted professional and follow all post-procedure care instructions, in order to guarantee the best results and minimize risks.

5 Main benefits of micropigmentation:

  1. Saves you time: Micropigmentation allows you to look the way you want without having to waste time on makeup or daily hair extensions;
  2. Natural-looking procedure: Microblading can be done to mimic the natural look of your eyebrows, lips or other areas you want to correct or highlight, improving the overall appearance of your face;
  3. Improves self-esteem: Many people claim to feel more confident in themselves after micropigmentation. This technique is ideal to help correct imbalances in appearance or to complement other aesthetic procedures;
  4. Practical procedure for people with vision or motor difficulties: Micropigmentation can be especially useful for people who have vision or motor difficulties and therefore find it difficult to apply make-up;
  5. It has a lasting effect: Micropigmentation does not last forever, but it has a lasting effect, especially when compared to other methods. It is common for this type of procedure to last up to many months or even years, depending on the type of pigment used and the patient's lifestyle.

After any aesthetic procedure, it is very important to follow all the indications provided by the professional, so that healing takes place without problems and that you can achieve the results you want with micropigmentation.

Precautions to be taken after micropigmentation:

  • Apply sunscreen;
  • Avoid exposure to the sun;
  • Do not rub or scratch the treated area;
  • Avoid immersing the treated area in water.

These are just a few examples of care to be taken with micropigmentation. You should always listen to any indication that the professional who performed the procedure has for you, as there may be other precautions to be taken in your specific case.
